Adam Levene has been confirmed as the new president of the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg.
The two-year term commenced December 1, 2015. Adam, previously the first vice-president, has been a board member for approximately 10 years.
The Jewish Federation is the representative body of the Winnipeg Jewish community and acts, in accordance with Jewish values, to foster and maintain a strong and united Jewish community in order to provide for the culture, continuity, religious practice, spirituality, survival and welfare of Jewish life while respecting its diversity. The Federation through its Combined Jewish Appeal runs an annual campaign raising this year in excess of $5.7 million dollars to fund community agencies.
Adam has been a partner at Aikins since 2008 and practises in the area of taxation, corporate & commercial law, real estate and finance transactions, charities, and trusts and estate planning. He is heavily involved in the Winnipeg community, having previously been the president and chair of Winnipeg Habitat for Humanity and having served or serving on the boards of the Asper Campus Corporation, Glendale Golf and Country Club, the Estate Planning Council of Manitoba, the University of Manitoba Students and the University of Manitoba Students Union Scholarship and Bursary Fund.
