Conor Chell to Discuss ESG Risks at Upcoming Conferences

With mandatory ESG disclosure coming to Canada and ESG litigation and enforcement activity on the rise, now is the time to think about mitigating your ESG risks.

Calgary lawyer Conor Chell, head of the MLT Aikins ESG practice group, will discuss how companies can manage ESG risks and avoid claims of greenwashing at upcoming conferences in Toronto and New York.

On October 12, Conor will discuss ESG litigation risks at the inaugural Canadian Lawyer ESG Summit Canada in Toronto. Conor’s presentation will cover companies’ obligations and risks, managing legal issues surrounding ESG initiatives and the fiduciary duties of directors, among other topics.

On October 13, Conor will tackle greenwashing risks at the American Conference Institute’s second annual National Summit on ESG in New York. Conor will join Shila Wattamwar of Sustainalytics onstage to discuss how companies can design ESG strategies that avoid exaggerated sustainability claims.

Conor has written extensively about ESG risks, including recent articles on greenwashing, net-zero strategies, mandatory ESG disclosure and the removal of Tesla from a prominent ESG index. If you need help with your ESG strategy, contact our ESG practice group.
