Lawyer J.J. Burnell, a partner based in the firm’s Winnipeg office, has been appointed to the Manitoba Regional Council of the Canadian Pension and Benefits Institute (CPBI).
The CPBI is a national, not-for-profit organization that offers its members networking opportunities, education and resources related to the pensions, employee benefits and institutional investment sectors. The organization aims to inform and support its members as they navigate the continuously evolving industry – helping them make decisions in a climate of “financial crisis, globalization and the rise of emerging economies” where “laws [are] being changed or updated and new products and ideas are making their way to the top of best practices.”
CPBI’s membership is diverse, made up of professionals who serve in a variety of sectors including finance, governments, labour unions, insurance and trust companies, law firms, human resource consultants, municipalities, universities and not-for-profit organizations. Canadian plan sponsors, service providers, consultants and regulators involved in pensions, benefits and investments look to the Canadian Pension and Benefits Institute as their premier forum for continuing education, networking and information sharing opportunities.
MLT Aikins congratulates J.J. on this well-deserved appointment and applauds her continued leadership in the area of pension and benefits.
