The Attorney General of Saskatchewan announced yesterday that MLT’s Jim Kerby and Deron Kuski are among 14 members of the Law Society of Saskatchewan honoured with the designation of Queen’s Counsel for 2014. This distinction recognizes consistently high standards of practice and distinguished service to the profession.
Jim Kerby is a senior commercial partner in the firm’s Saskatoon office. His practice emphasis is on business sales and acquisitions, procurement, forestry law and corporate governance. He played a lead role in successfully restructuring and refinancing one of Saskatchewan’s largest private corporations, and has also acted as lead counsel on numerous other significant commercial transactions. Jim’s community leadership includes serving on the Saskatoon Airport Authority’s Board of Directors since 2011, acting as Chair of the Waskesiu Foundation Inc. since 2012, and as the Public Appointee on the Council of the Association of Saskatchewan Forestry Professionals since 2013.
Deron Kuski is a commercial litigator in MLT’s Regina office whose practice spans a broad range of commercial and construction litigation, and creditor and commercial leasing law. He is counsel of record in dozens of reported decisions, and has extensive experience with arbitrations and mediations in Saskatchewan, Canada and internationally. Deron is a Director of United Way Regina, served as Co-Chair of the 2013 Grey Cup Concerts Committee, and Chair of the United Way Regina Campaign Cabinet in 2012.
