About Andy Chow
Andy is a seasoned patent and trademark lawyer with experience in drafting, filing and prosecuting applications for patents, trademarks, industrial designs and copyrights, and acting for clients in contentious matters such as trademark opposition and expungement proceedings.
Andy is a registered Canadian patent agent and trademark agent. As a registered U.S. patent agent and a trademark agent recognized by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), he is also authorized to act on patent and trademark matters before the USPTO for parties located in Canada.
He has litigated cases before the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the British Columbia Court of Appeal, the Federal Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal.

About Mihaela Dumitrean
Mihaela is a Canadian trademark agent with a continental European legal training. She focuses on trademark registration procedures in Canada and the United States, bringing more than 11 years of experience in intellectual property to her role, including seven years as a trademark agent.
Her work includes developing filing strategies, responding to office actions, preparing and filing trademark applications, conducting availability and registrability searches, and interventions in opposition and cancellation proceedings.
Mihaela also works with clients on commercial transactions by conducting due diligence searches, preparing assignment documentation and assisting with document filing.

About Lorraine Pinsent
Andy and Mihaela join Lorraine Pinsent, who leads the Trademarks practice at MLT Aikins. Lorraine works in the firm’s Calgary office and has been recognized in the World Trademark Review 1000: The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals for the past nine years.
Lorraine is a recognized leader in Canadian trademark prosecution who has worked as a registered trademark agent before the Canadian Trademarks Office for more than 20 years. She manages large international trademark portfolios for numerous clients, with a focus on trademark searching, prosecution, oppositions, licensing, portfolio management and international trademark protection.
Lorraine is the Chair of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada’s Trademark Agent Training Committee and is also an instructor for the trademark agent examination prep course. She has written on a variety of topics, including the trademarking of online services, amendments to Canada’s Trademarks Act and legal requirements for the branding of tobacco and cannabis products in Canada.
