MLT Aikins Lawyers Present to CPA Saskatchewan

Seven MLT Aikins lawyers are slated to present to Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Saskatchewan at three half-day seminars.

On Friday, October 27, John AgioritisKurt Wintermute and Nicholas Horlick will speak in Regina on “Managing Risk in Your Tax Practice.”

Designed to help professional advisers reduce their exposure to liability in their tax practices, this seminar will focus on the procedures and processes of practising in taxation, highlighting areas where more could be done to protect practitioners from liability. In addition, the session will include a discussion of technical issues associated with the areas where AICA experiences the greatest number and dollar value of claims.

This course aims to help small- and medium-sized business enterprises and practising professionals identify and manage sources of risk in their businesses or professional practices. The seminar will raise awareness of sources of risk in business enterprises and professional practices across 10 different common areas of concern – and identify strategies to manage risk.

It will provide a refresher on basic principles such as directors duties, as well as provide information on specific issues such as conflicts of interest, directors personal liability and potential claims by shareholders and other stakeholders. Practitioners who are involved in advising or auditing corporations (both for-profit and non-profit) and those who serve as directors of corporations themselves with benefit from the course.
