For the third straight year, MLT Aikins is sponsoring Make-a-Wish Northern Alberta’s Calendar of Wishes, the organization’s annual holiday fundraising campaign.
The Calendar of Wishes is a giant advent calendar located in downtown Edmonton. Each day in December, a calendar door will be opened to reveal a life-changing wish that has been granted to a child with a critical illness. This year, MLT Aikins is sponsoring the December 5 wish.
MLT Aikins has sponsored the Calendar of Wishes since its inception three years ago, but the firm’s support for Make-a-Wish Northern Alberta dates back to the 1990s, explains Edmonton lawyer Adam Merrick.
“We believe in the cause and we believe in supporting it,” Adam says. “It’s been a charity of choice in Edmonton for a number of years.”
Volunteers from MLT Aikins will be on site at “Winter Wish Square” in Abbey Glen Park (10107 – 10147 Jasper Avenue) for the opening of the calendar door at 12 p.m. on December 5. MLT Aikins staff will also be handing out holiday favours in the rotunda of Commerce Place (10155 102 St NW), which will host a smaller-scale version of the Calendar of Wishes.
