MLT Expands Support to Pro Bono Law Alberta

This post was written prior to our January 2017 merger, under our previous firm name, MacPherson Leslie & Tyerman LLP.

As part of MLT’s commitment to help make legal services more accessible in our communities, MLT lawyers in Edmonton have stepped up their efforts in support of the Alberta Provincial Court Civil Claims Duty Counsel Program of Pro Bono Law Alberta. The program, which by a conservative estimate has helped some 700 people so far in 2013, connects volunteer lawyers with Albertans seeking help with civil proceedings before the Provincial Court. Dana Nowak, MLT’s project coordinator, observes, “The program is particularly important for people of limited means who otherwise would not have informed access to Alberta’s small claims justice system. As a starting point, this program helps people in need understand their legal rights and the court process”.

MLT is committed to supporting causes that help people in need in our communities.
