Scholarship winner begins articling with MLT Aikins

Jorie Halcro, winner of the inaugural MLT Aikins Indigenous Scholarship, is now an articling student in the firm’s Saskatoon office.

After winning the first-ever MLT Aikins Indigenous Scholarship last March, Jorie has since graduated near the top of her class at the University of Saskatchewan (USask) Faculty of Law. A recent USask article explained how she managed to excel at her studies while raising her two young sons.

“I don’t deny that it was a challenge,” Jorie told USask. “But to be honest, I wouldn’t have been able to do so well without these boys, because they motivate me every day.”

That motivation helped Jorie win multiple scholarships as a law student – one of which paved the way for Jorie joining MLT Aikins as an articling student.

“And that is the nice thing about law school for most students; if you do it right, everything lines up and you just go right into working after graduation,” Jorie told USask.

MLT Aikins is thrilled to have Jorie join the Saskatoon office. Read her full interview with USask and learn more about Jorie’s practice
