Edmonton lawyer Walter Pavlic was invited to speak in Las Vegas, presenting to the Association of International Chartered Public Accountants (AICPA) at the 2017 Forensic and Valuation Services Conference. More than 800 CPAs from the USA and Canada were in attendance.
Walter’s presentation, which took place the afternoon of Tuesday, November 14, was entitled “Responding to Employee Fraud in the Cloud Era.” In the session, he and co-presenter Lisa Majeau-Gordon from MNP LLP examined a complicated employee fraud case from both a forensic and legal perspective, focusing on how they overcame barriers to containment and investigation from a technology, jurisdictional and legal perspective. Session participants learned techniques for containing and controlling employee fraud in the cloud era as well as how to obtain and preserve evidence for investigation.
