This post was written prior to our January 2017 merger, under our previous firm name, Aikins, MacAulay & Thorvaldson LLP.
The Winnipeg Foundation has launched Fast Pitch for a second year in a row, and Aikins Law is excited to participate again as a workshop sponsor. Fast Pitch is a 10-week coaching program between Winnipeg’s charitable and professional communities.
During the months of January and March 2017, elected coaches and charities will come together to develop compelling pitches. The aim is to bridge the gaps between Winnipeg’s charitable groups and the legal, business and financial sectors while also bringing light to these organizations in a captivating way.
Last year Aikins Law was privileged to coach three of the finalist teams: Lake Winnipeg Foundation (coached by Florence Carey), Sarasvàti Productions (coached by Baillie Chisick), and Prairie Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre (coached by Bradley Zander). While Fast Pitch aimed to build the capacity of, and create visibility for, Winnipeg’s charitable sector, it also built long lasting friendships between the coaches and the charities.
This year leaders from local charities will learn how to tell their organization’s stories, succinctly and powerfully with The Power of Story workshop, and coaching sessions, led by Cate Friesen and David McLeod. The program culminates in a Showcase where finalists compete for up to $20,000 in prizes.
