Leigh practises corporate/commercial law with a particular focus on the energy industry. Leigh also advises a number of small and mid-sized owner-operated entities and has extensive experience working with the automotive industry.

Leigh practises with the firm’s corporate/commercial group in Calgary. Leigh has a wealth of experience from private practice and in-house positions, advising clients in the energy industry on the acquisition and divestiture of assets and companies, joint ventures, partnerships and other business combination structures as well as on negotiating commercial agreements for myriad energy projects. Leigh’s experience in the energy sector has been focused primarily on oilsands projects, LNG projects and on advising midstream companies.

Leigh is sought after for her advice to small and midsize owner-operated businesses in various corporate and commercial capacities with respect to business acquisitions and dispositions, as well as governance related matters. Leigh has significant experience working in corporate governance, acting as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary to a U.S. public company operating in Canada as well as to private company boards on which she currently sits.

Most recently, Leigh held the position of CEO at LJ Peters Warehouses Ltd. where she led the sale of its assets to a U.S. private equity firm and U.S. competitor. Leigh’s business and legal experience combine to ensure that her advice is practical, efficient and creative. Leigh has a particular focus in the automotive industry having worked with many aspects of the sector, including manufacturing, distribution, dealerships, sales and retail.

Leigh is an active member of the Calgary community. She has been a volunteer and strong supporter of the Calgary Stampede for 18 years. She is a member of the Unicef Patrons Council, which recently took her to Uganda. She is also an active member of the Institute for Corporate Directors and of the International Women’s Forum, Calgary Chapter.
