Billie Fortier named Executive Fellow of the University of Calgary’s School of Public Policy

Billie Fortier has been appointed an Executive Fellow of the University of Calgary’s School of Public Policy (SPP).

The SPP was founded by economist Jack Mintz in 2008 to drive the discourse on public policy through independent, data-driven research. The SPP’s research has been cited more than any other policy school in Canada, both by the media and academic publications, according to the SPP website.

As an Executive Fellow, Billie will have the opportunity to participate in the SPP’s research projects, act as a mentor, give lectures and engage in the school’s outreach activities.

Billie advises First Nations and Métis communities and their businesses on economic development, commercial leasing, industry partnerships and community governance matters. She was named a Lexpert Rising Star in 2021.

Billie sits on the leadership council of Forward Summit, an Indigenous-led conference aimed at advancing economic partnerships between industry and Indigenous communities. She has also volunteered with the Level Justice Indigenous Youth Outreach Program and served as a board member of the Impact Society.

We are pleased to congratulate Billie on her well-deserved appointment as Executive Fellow of the SPP. Learn more about Billie’s practice.
