Services and Industries

Jihan is an associate lawyer who focuses her practice on estate planning and administration, as well as privacy and data protection.

Taking the stress out of estate planning is Jihan’s goal with every client. Deciding how to leave a legacy can be a daunting process, especially when there are significant assets at play. Jihan carefully walks clients through all their options when drafting wills, powers of attorney, trusts and other estate planning documents, with an eye toward asset preservation and creating tax-efficient succession plans.

Estate administration is another element of Jihan’s practice. She works closely with executors and administrators during the probate process, helping them navigate the complexities of administering an estate. This can be a complicated, emotional undertaking that requires a compassionate, steady hand at the wheel.

In addition to estate planning and administration, Jihan is also a Certified Information Privacy Manager (IAPP) who advises clients on privacy law matters. She regularly reviews clients’ privacy policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and mitigate the risk of breaches. Jihan also advises clients responding to freedom of information requests.

Jihan is internationally trained, having completed her education in the United Kingdom.  She is a member of the Honorable Society of Lincoln’s Inn and is called to the Bars of England, Trinidad & Tobago, Grenada and Manitoba.

Before joining MLT Aikins, Jihan practiced law in Trinidad and Tobago, where she maintained a general litigation practice with a focus on wills and estates law, contentious probate matters and defamation law. She acted for one of the Caribbean’s largest media conglomerates on a variety of defamation cases. Jihan also has experience in corporate/commercial law and real estate.

  • Event Coordinator, Law Association of Trinidad & Tobago (2018-2020)
