Dan is an associate lawyer with the firm's innovation, data, and technology group, with a focus on technology projects and transactions and the commercialization of intellectual property.

Dan’s practice focuses on the commercialization and protection of intellectual property (IP), technology and other intangible assets. As a member of the innovation, data and technology (ID&T) group, he assists clients with navigating their ID&T issues, identifying ID&T assets, and making recommendations on how to protect such assets. Dan has experience in various IP matters, including drafting, developing and advising on various IP-related agreements and conducting IP due diligence for the acquisition and licensing of IP assets.

Dan is currently pursuing his Trademark Agent designation with the College of Patent Agents & Trademark Agents (Canada). He has knowledge and experience in trademarks, including providing opinions on the registrability of trademarks, drafting applications, and responding to examiner’s reports containing objections to the registration of a trademark application.

With a particular interest in IP and intangible assets, Dan is continuously improving his knowledge in this field. His continuing legal education includes completion of a course in Intellectual Property Licensing from Osgoode Hall Law School Professional Development.

Prior to joining MLT Aikins, Dan articled and was an associate lawyer at a leading large law firm in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Law and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Winnipeg where he completed a bachelor of science (four-year) in mathematics (gold medallist) and a bachelor of arts in philosophy (gold medallist).

Dan is fluent in English and Filipino.
