We are proud to share that Melinda Moch has been awarded the 2025 A. Montague Israels, Q.C. Prize.

Presented annually by the Law Society of Manitoba to one student from the graduating class of the Bar Admission Program, this prestigious award recognizes an individual who “demonstrates a sense of justice transcending technical competence.” It honours the attributes of scholarship, character, skill and breadth of interest exemplified by A. Montague Israels.

Melinda was called to the Manitoba Bar in June 2025 and obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Manitoba in 2024. Before entering law school, she worked with MLT Aikins for many years as a commercial real estate and financial services paralegal.

As the recipient of the 2023 MLT Aikins Indigenous Scholarship, Melinda is proudly Red River Métis, with deep community and family ties to Winnipeg and Manitoba’s Interlake region. Her leadership includes serving on the Board of Directors of the Indigenous Bar Association, the Board of Directors of Clan Mothers Healing Village and serving as a member of the Indigenous Advisory Council of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada.

“Melinda’s commitment to justice and community is inspiring,” said Michael Weinstein, MLT Aikins partner and student committee chair for Winnipeg. “She brings a rare combination of legal skill, compassion and leadership that makes her a deserving recipient of this honour.”

Melinda joins a distinguished group of MLT Aikins alumni who have received the award, including Anjali Sandhu, Melissa Cattini, Jonathan Kroft and Rob Gabor.

Please join us in congratulating Melinda on this outstanding achievement.
