MLT Aikins is now accepting applications for our 2026 Indigenous Scholarship. The winning second-year law student will receive $6000.

To be eligible, applicants must be in their second year of law school and provide a cover letter, resumé, transcripts and a reference from their Indigenous community. All eligible applicants across Canada are encouraged to apply by Friday, February 27, 2026. The winner will be announced in March 2026.

The MLT Aikins Indigenous Scholarship, which launched in 2021, is an ongoing demonstration of our firm’s commitment to supporting Indigenous perspectives and representation in the legal community by reducing financial barriers that affect Indigenous students’ access to law school.

2026’s winner will join past scholarship recipients Chief Tréchelle Bunn of the Birdtail Sioux First Nation (2025), MLT Aikins lawyer Benjamin Ironstand (2024), MLT Aikins lawyer Melinda Moch (2023) and MLT Aikins lawyer Jorie Halcro (2022).

We look forward to another opportunity to recognize the many achievements of Indigenous law students through our Indigenous scholarship program, both this upcoming spring and for many years to come.
