MLT Aikins honours Gender Equality Week with community outreach efforts and roundtable discussion

Each year, the fourth week of September marks Gender Equality Week – a time to celebrate women’s achievements, advance the cause of gender equality and reaffirm ongoing commitments towards closing the gender gaps affecting Canadians. Starting on September 20, MLT Aikins focused community outreach efforts on organizations that support women’s shelters, survivors of domestic abuse and other initiatives that empower women and strengthen our communities.
As part of this commitment, offices across the firm will be participating in local community outreach initiatives through Kits for a Cause, a charitable organization that helps companies, schools, faith groups, families and community teams give back through kit-packing events. benefiting organizations that support women and families in need.
In addition, the firm dedicated time at our annual Lawyers’ Retreat towards the facilitating of a roundtable discussion, hosted by our Women’s Working Group, focused on exploring gender equality in the legal profession and our workplaces.
These efforts reflect our firm’s dedication to the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion. We believe these principles are fundamental, fostering a collaborative culture where everyone, including women, BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, neurodiverse individuals and persons with disabilities, can thrive. By embracing these principles, we cultivate a workspace that not only respects differences but actively encourages the sharing of diverse perspectives, in turn enhancing our ability to deliver excellent and innovative legal solutions.
