Job summary
MLT Aikins is seeking a highly skilled and experienced corporate paralegal to join our expanding team and support our increasing client base. The ideal candidate will have good practical training and experience from working in a busy corporate practice at a business law firm and will have graduated from a recognized legal assistant or paralegal program (equivalencies will be considered).
Candidates must have transactional and drafting experience and be proficient with a corporate database. They must be able to multitask and prioritize workload, pay attention to detail, and have excellent organizational, communication and writing skills. This is a client-based environment, and the corporate paralegals work directly with lawyers and clients on transactions across the firm. The candidate must be able to take instructions, understand corporate transactions and work independently to provide draft documentation.
Base salary: $65,000–$85,000. Compensation based on skills and experience
Responsibilities include:
- Graduate of a recognized legal assistant/paralegal diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years of experience in a corporate paralegal role
- Strong working knowledge and understanding of British Columbia and Federal corporate legislation
- Proficient in ALF or another corporate database
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple deadlines, complete tasks under time constraints and work independently
- Ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision and thrive in a fast-paced, professional team environment
- Advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, Outlook and document management software
- Team player with a willingness to collaborate with others on the team
- Analytical with the ability to apply concepts
- A client-focused approach and commitment to providing exceptional service to internal and external clients; customer service and communication skills are an asset
