MLT Aikins strengthens its regulatory team with the addition of Kyle Donnelly

MLT Aikins is pleased to announce that Kyle Donnelly has joined the firm’s partnership.
With more than 15 years of experience both in private practice and in government, Kyle is a key addition to the firm’s regulatory team. Kyle’s competition law practice focuses on transactional matters, regulatory approvals, government investigations and general competition and communications law compliance counselling (including marketing and advertising laws). He also advises companies involved in cross-border transactions that involve the Investment Canada Act.
Kyle has advised a wide variety of clients across several important industries, including communications, energy, food and consumer products, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, technology and transportation.
Kyle recently served a term at the Competition Bureau Legal Services unit of the Department of Justice Canada, representing the Commissioner of Competition. In that role, Kyle appeared before the Federal Court of Canada as lead litigation counsel in connection with multiple inquiries under the Competition Act and coordinated closely with other Canadian government agencies in connection with Competition Act investigations, including Transport Canada, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, as well as foreign antitrust agencies, such as the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, U.K. Competition and Markets Authority and Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
“The addition of a nationally recognized leader in the competition law bar reinforces the strength of our regulatory team to support our clients not only in Western Canada, but from across the country,” said Aaron Runge, MLT Aikins managing partner. “Our clients and our colleagues will benefit tremendously from Kyle’s extensive experience across a number of key industries and from his time within government.”
