Jennifer Williams speaks at Forward Summit West Coast on October 22

MLT Aikins lawyer Jennifer Williams will be speaking at the Forward Summit West Coast on October 22, 2024, in Vancouver. Jennifer has recently been recognized in the 2025 edition of the Best Lawyers in Canada for her Aboriginal Law/Indigenous Practice.

Jennifer will be part of a roundtable discussion entitled “Building a Better Future: Indigenous Construction & Real Estate.” The session will delve into how Indigenous-led construction and real estate initiatives in British Columbia are fostering economic empowerment, sustainable development and cultural preservation by transforming communities and creating a prosperous future.

Jennifer Williams is an experienced commercial real estate and development lawyer with a particular focus on acquisitions, dispositions, commercial leasing and financing. She has practised commercial real estate and development law for more than 20 years. Jennifer previously served as in-house counsel for a prominent real estate developer whose head office and key assets are situated on Capilano Reserve No. 5 of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw, on which lands her family resides.

Jennifer’s Aboriginal law practice includes transactions and partnerships with a wide range of Indigenous Nations and Peoples through various real estate and resource-related projects. This includes developments (mixed use, commercial, industrial, food sustainability and financing) that support and advance Indigenous economic development and sovereignty.

Jennifer is a former chair of the Real Estate Subsection of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA). She serves on the Land Title and Survey Authority Stakeholder Advisory Committee and the Real Estate Committee on behalf of the CBA, as well as the BC Financial Services Authority (BCFSA) Technical Working Group.
