MLT Aikins recognized as a top employer for recent graduates

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started.” – Mark Twain

The Career Directory has named MLT Aikins as one of the top employers for recent university and college graduates for 2024.

Published annually, The Career Directory recognizes Canada’s top employers, based on opportunities for students, training programs, tuition subsidies, work benefits and vacation allowances. The 2024 Career Directory shares its annual list with career centres at universities and colleges across Canada in order to aid students and recent graduates seeking job opportunities in various professions at an entry level.

Spanning Western Canada with offices in six cities, MLT Aikins offers paid internships, summer jobs and co-op opportunities to graduates and students. In-house training and mentoring are also available, as well as flexible work hours and transit subsidies. In the past, the firm has recruited graduates in business, human resources, criminology, public relations, accounting and marketing. Graduates have come from across the country – ranging from the University of Victoria to McGill University.

“MLT Aikins is honoured to be named one of the top employers for recent graduates,” said MLT Aikins director of human resources, Shelly Antill. “We hope that our listing attracts the country’s finest young talent who are embarking on their careers. We are more than happy to furnish them with additional information.”

Since 1992, The Career Directory has been Canada’s longest-running employment guide for graduates. Every year, an editorial team reviews thousands of employers across various industries to determine what academic qualifications they demand from young job-seekers. The annual guide was born in the summer of 1989 by two University of Toronto graduates frustrated by their job search. Missing was a reliable source of objective information about companies who were hiring recent graduates. The duo assembled a loose leaf list of a dozen interesting employers, short and to-the-point, to identify what each employer did, the academic fields they were interested in and a summary of how best to land a job there.

The two University of Toronto graduates printed the first Career Directory in 1991, which became an instant hit at campus career centres and bookstores. Over the next 15 years, the print edition helped hundreds of thousands of young Canadian job-seekers start their careers. Today, The Career Directory is managed by the Canada’s Top 100 Employers team at Mediacorp in Toronto and reaches more job-seekers than ever online.
