Marla practises in the areas of corporate and commercial law with an emphasis on advising large and small businesses, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and secured lending, commercial real estate, and various related matters. In Fall 2011 she was seconded as Corporate Counsel to True North Sports & Entertainment Limited and the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club.

  • Acted on the financing and secured lending component of the transaction that led to the return of a major hockey team to the City of Winnipeg
  • Acted in the development, financing and construction of a downtown sports and entertainment complex involving both public sector and private sector financial support
  • Acted in the purchase of a large real estate asset from a public sector entity
  • Acted in various share and asset acquisitions and divestitures
  • Advises not-for-profit real estate developer and financier
  • Frequent adviser on commercial real estate development purchases, sales and financings
