On Friday, April 11, 2025, MLT Aikins lawyers Shandra Czarnecki and Devin Wehrle will speak at the Manitoba Trucking Association Annual General Meeting in Winnipeg.

The presentation is part of the Trucking Association’s 2025 RPM (Risk Professionally Managed) Speaker Series. Addressing health and safety professionals and HR professionals working in the trucking industry, Shandra and Devin will discuss “Employer Responsibilities in Relation to Domestic Violence” and will consider Canada Labour Code obligations for federally regulated employers.

About the presentation

Relationship and gender-based violence are societal concerns in need of a community response. Employers are in a position to effect systemic change for the benefit of the individuals, organizations and communities they serve. Participants will learn about the responsibilities of owners, managers, supervisors and co-workers.

Are you equipped to respond appropriately to disclosures? What factors may mitigate against the sharing of personal information? This presentation will help employers and workplaces better address the perpetuation and impact of domestic abuse.
