Reis Pagtakhan to speak at Manitoba Chambers of Commerce Economic Summit in Steinbach

On April 30, 2026, MLT Aikins lawyer Reis Pagtakhan will be speaking at the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce Economic Summit in Steinbach, Manitoba. This year’s summit takes place from April 30 to May 1 and will focus on building Manitoba’s competitive advantage. Attendees will have the opportunity to join other business leaders, Chamber representatives and decision-makers as they connect with one another and hear about pressing business development and growth topics in Manitoba.
Reis will be part of the panel The Future of Workforce in Manitoba. With many industries facing critical labour shortages and expressing the need for an expanded workforce, Canada remains heavily reliant on immigration for labour and economic growth. The session will focus on the barriers Manitoba businesses are facing in securing skilled labour and will identify where the opportunities exist to expand training capacity, better align with employer demand and use workforce development as a lever for economic growth.

Reis Pagtakhan has more than 30 years of experience in his corporate immigration practice and has worked with Canadian businesses in find them immigration solutions to find the foreign talent they need. He currently serves as Co-Chair of Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew’s Business and Jobs Council’s Trade Diversification – Internal and International Trade subcommittee and previously served as the Chair of that Council’s Immigration and Skills Alignment subcommittee. He was recently awarded the 2025 Manitoba Bar Association’s Community Involvement Award and has served on boards as diverse as CPHR Manitoba, the Community Legal Education Association and the Immigrant Centre Manitoba, as well as a number of faith-based schools, charities and organizations. He has also been an active member of Winnipeg’s Filipino-Canadian community, including serving as a Folklorama Ambassador and other organizations.
