Dauphin River First Nation announces economic development milestone with Chicken Delight acquisition

Earlier this month, Dauphin River First Nation announced the opening of a local Chicken Delight restaurant. This acquisition marks a step forward in the Nation’s ongoing economic development efforts, which have been led by Chief Lawrence Letander and councillors Leonard Sumner, Derek Letander and Ryan Anderson.
“This is about much more than opening a restaurant. It’s about economic development, creating opportunities, investing in our community and building a stronger, more self-sufficient Nation for generations to come,” said Chief Letander. “As Chief, I remain committed to pursuing economic investments that create jobs, support local businesses and keep opportunities and prosperity right here at home.”
MLT Aikins lawyers Scott Markham and Rebecca Penner were pleased to assist with this transaction as part of the firm’s ongoing relationship with Dauphin River First Nation. The acquisition serves as a component of a broader economic sovereignty strategy for the Nation.
“We’re grateful for the assistance that Scott, Rebecca and the rest of the MLT Aikins team provided,” Chief Letander said. “They worked with us every step of the way to help make this transaction – a strong step towards building opportunities and prosperity in our community – a success.”
