Katelyn Jones to speak at 16th annual BC Safety Charter Round Table

On Thursday, September 24, MLT Aikins lawyer Katelyn Jones will be speaking at the 2026 BC Safety Charter Round Table in Vancouver BC, presented by the Executive Health and Safety Council of BC. The Round Table brings together signatories from around the province to learn, teach and share experiences to build stronger safety cultures and help make BC the safest province in Canada to work in.
Katelyn will be presenting “Safety Systems on Trial: Criminal Negligence in the Workplace,” This session will trace application of Canada’s criminal negligence laws in the workplace – from the origins of Bill C-45, through the legal framework of organizational liability, to a survey of court decisions that show the real-world consequences for companies and individuals alike. The goal is to leave participants with practical takeaways for strengthening safety policies and training, as well as emergency management and incident response.
About Katelyn
Katelyn Jones is a litigator practising commercial and civil litigation, with a focus on administrative and regulatory law and professional regulation. In her administrative law practice, Katelyn has experience in the field of transportation regulation, workplace safety incidents and professional disciplinary proceedings. She regularly appears before the Supreme Court of British Columbia, as well as a number of tribunals and administrative bodies. Before moving to British Columbia, she also appeared before the Saskatchewan Court of King’s Bench and the Saskatchewan Provincial Court as well as the Federal Court of Canada.
