MLT Aikins is now accepting applications for our 2027 Indigenous Scholarship. The successful applicant will receive $10,000.

To be eligible, applicants must be in their second year of law school and provide a cover letter, resumé, transcripts and a reference from their Indigenous community. All eligible applicants across Canada are encouraged to apply by Sunday, February 28, 2027. The recipient will be announced in March 2027.

The MLT Aikins Indigenous Scholarship first launched in 2021 and serves as an ongoing demonstration of the firm’s commitment to supporting Indigenous perspectives and representation in the legal community. It is our intent for this award to help ease the financial barriers associated with law school, thereby allowing greater access for Indigenous students.

2027’s winner will join past scholarship recipients Sean Gray (2026), Chief Tréchelle Bunn of the Birdtail Sioux First Nation (2025), MLT Aikins lawyer Benjamin Ironstand (2024), Melinda Moch (2023) and Jorie Halcro (2022).

We look forward to the opportunity to recognize the many achievements of Indigenous law students through our Indigenous scholarship program, not only in 2027 but for many years to come.
