Calgary litigator Erika Carrasco joins partnership

MLT Aikins is pleased to announce that Erika Carrasco has joined the firm’s partnership and our Calgary advocacy group.
Erika is a highly respected commercial litigator and an internationally known leader in emerging technology law. She brings a wealth of experience and skill to the firm’s well established and rapidly growing commercial litigation and technology, intellectual property and privacy groups.
Working with clients across a variety of industries including technology, insurance, cannabis, construction and energy, Erika is known for her strategic thinking, practical insight and proactive approach to managing risk and resolving complex disputes. She helps clients address the legal and business challenges that come with emerging technologies like AI, drones, blockchain and autonomous vehicles.
Among her many accolades, Erika has the distinction of being the first lawyer in Canada to have successfully argued an appeal under the Canadian aviation regulations relating to drones.
Erika is also heavily involved in the community, serving on several non-profit and charitable boards. She is currently on the board of directors for the Aerial Evolution Association of Canada, an industry association representing various stakeholders in the advanced aerial mobility and remotely-piloted systems sectors.
“Erika is an exceptionally skilled and dedicated lawyer,” said Aaron Runge, MLT Aikins managing partner. “We look forward to the contributions she will bring to our Calgary litigation group, to our technology, intellectual property and privacy group and our firm more broadly.”
