On Thursday, November 7, 2024, MLT Aikins lawyer Desiree Katz will be presenting to the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Manitoba Foundation on the topic of “Maximizing Impact with Strategic Giving.”

This virtual professional development session is designed to help attendees maximize their impact on charitable causes in Manitoba. The webinar will cover various gifting mechanisms including cash, public securities, private company shares, gifts by will, life insurance, charitable remainder trusts and donor-advised funds. There will be a focus on supporting both charities and the CPA Manitoba Foundation. This webinar is ideal for charity supporters, wealth advisers and non-profit organization leaders and will offer actionable insights into tax-efficient giving.

Based in Winnipeg, Desiree Katz has extensive experience advising clients with respect to taxation and estate planning. In particular, she assists clients with corporate tax planning, personal tax planning, corporate reorganizations and tax-efficient business structuring. Desiree also has experience with distribution planning, the implementation and use of family trusts, succession planning and intergenerational transfers of businesses, personal estate planning and drafting testamentary documents.

In 2023, Desiree completed the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada’s In-Depth Tax Program (IDTP). This three-year program provides tax practitioners with a strong foundation of technical knowledge in core tax issues. Desiree uses the skills she gained from completing the IDTP to help achieve the best outcomes for the firm’s clients.
