Welcoming nine new lawyers in Winnipeg

MLT Aikins is pleased to welcome nine new lawyers to our Winnipeg office. These talented individuals bring a wide range of experience and academic excellence to our team, and we are excited to support their continued growth and contributions to our clients and communities.
Ryan Hall
Ryan maintains a general litigation practice. During law school, he placed first in the 2023 Robson Hall Negotiation Competition. In his time with the firm, Ryan has gained experience in a variety of matters before the Manitoba Court of King’s Bench, contributed to preparing a broad range of court filings and supported clients through all stages of litigation. April Lavilla-Lount
April joins the firm’s litigation group. During law school, she competed in the 2023 Robson Hall law school negotiation competition and was recognized for her strong negotiation skills. As a summer student at Oceans North legal department, she conducted legal research on natural resource extraction in Nunavut for the non-profit. Learn more about April.
Caitlin Madden
Caitlin is an associate in the corporate/commercial group. Throughout law school, Caitlin was heavily involved in promoting equity, diversity and inclusion within the faculty and broader legal community, serving as the President of the Cultural Diversity in Law Group, alongside other leadership positions. Melinda Moch
Melinda joins the firm’s business law group after working with the firm for many years as a real estate and financial services paralegal. Melinda is proudly Red River Métis and was the 2023 recipient of the MLT Aikins Indigenous Scholarship. Learn more about Melinda.
Shelly Neal
Shelly practises in the areas of corporate and commercial law, with an emphasis on commercial real estate, commercial leasing and construction. Prior to joining the firm, Shelly worked for five years as a senior content strategist, where she helped her construction and real estate association clients develop and produce physical and digital content pieces. Nicolas Nudler
Nicolas is a member of the firm’s labour and employment group, and his practice includes human rights law and litigation on behalf of employers. During law school, he placed first in the 2023 Robson Hall Negotiation Competition and was a finalist in the 2024 Art Braid Business Case Law Competition. Learn more about Nicolas.
Justin Papoff
Justin joins the MLT Aikins business law group. During law school, he represented the university at the Donald G.H. Bowman Tax Moot. He also worked pro bono with the L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic and Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Arts. Justin has volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Winnipeg since 2022. Learn more about Justin.
Rebecca Penner
Rebecca practises corporate and commercial law. In law school, she served as president of the Business Law Group and chair of the Manitoba Law Students Association. She placed second at the Robson Hall Negotiation Competition and participated in the 2024 Canadian National Negotiation Competition. Learn more about Rebecca.
Devan Vercaigne
Devan practises in the area of corporate and commercial law with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions and commercial real estate. Devan has experience working with consolidators in a variety of industries, including dentistry, pharmacy and physical therapy.
