MLT Aikins welcomes five lawyers in July

MLT Aikins is pleased welcome five associates in the Regina, Saskatoon and Vancouver offices: Riva Farrell Racette (Regina), Haley Stearns (Regina), Danielle Hopkins-Carter (Saskatoon), Jason McNiven (Vancouver) and Shirley Yan (Vancouver).

Prior to completing her law degree, Riva Farrell Racette worked as a school teacher on a First Nation–operated school. She obtained her teaching degree from the Saskatchewan Urban Native Teacher’s Education Program (SUNTEP). Drawing on her educational background, Riva practises in labour and employment and human rights law, working extensively with employers on these matters. She advises clients on workplace accommodation and wrongful dismissals. Learn more about Riva’s practice.

Haley Stearns practices in criminal and regulatory law, administrative law and civil litigation. She appears regularly on matters before the Provincial Court, Court of King’s Bench and before administrative tribunals in Saskatchewan. Learn more about Haley’s practice.

Danielle Hopkins-Carter obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Saskatchewan in 2022. Prior to entering law school, Danielle completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in accounting. Learn more about Danielle’s practice. 

Jason McNiven obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Saskatchewan. Jason is a proud member of the Métis Nation of British Columbia. He is interested in advancing the rights of Indigenous peoples through his work in both professional and volunteer capacities. Learn more about Jason’s practice.

Shirley Yan has worked on both litigation and solicitor matters, including real estate transactions, shareholder disputes, employment law matters and various wills & estates matters. She has acted for a range of clients, including shareholders and directors of corporations, real estate purchasers and vendors, financial institutions, employers and employees and government subsidiaries.
