Steven Kohn appointed King’s Counsel for Manitoba

MLT Aikins is delighted to learn that Steven Kohn has been named King’s Counsel for Manitoba.

On August 31, 2023, Manitoba’s Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Kelvin Goertzen, made the announcement, thanking Steven for his leadership and continued contributions to the province and justice system. King’s Counsel is an honourary title bestowed on a lawyer to recognize exceptional merit in their profession.

A partner with MLT Aikins in Winnipeg, Steven practises in the areas of tax law, mergers and acquisitions, business succession, corporate and commercial law and high-net-worth estate and succession planning. His clients across Canada number in the hundreds and include public companies, private corporations, partnerships and trusts. Steven is also a trusted adviser to many high-net-worth multi-generational families, among them Manitoba’s leading businesses and business leaders.

Steven possesses extensive knowledge and market-leading experience in manufacturing, transportation, real estate development, agriculture, distribution, cannabis, regulated professionals, health care, supply chain logistics, retail operations and construction. He has been recognized as a leading lawyer in corporate tax by the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory since 2012, and by Best Lawyers for tax law and trusts and estates since 2010.

Steven has taught at the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Law and the Law Society of Manitoba’s Bar Admission Course. He has been a frequent speaker for organizations such as the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Family Enterprise Exchange and the Law Society of Manitoba. Also, he has served many volunteer boards and committees, including the Health Sciences Centre Foundation, the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg and the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba.
