Josh Regnier

Josh Regnier was born and raised in Treaty 8 territory in Dawson Creek and is of mixed French and English heritage. He received his Juris Doctor and Juris Indigenarum Doctor from the University of Victoria in 2024, where he had the privilege of supporting innovative transsystemic work such as drafting court rules to implement Cowichan Tribes’ Snuw’uy’ulhtst tu Quw’utsun Mustimuhw u’ tu Shhw’a’luqw’a’ i’ Smun’eem [The Laws of the Cowichan People for Families and Children] in the Duncan Provincial Court.

He recently completed a clerkship at the Court of Appeal for British Columbia.

Prior to law school, Josh worked with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and Cando on partnerships between First Nations and local governments in areas such as renewable energy, land planning and economic development. He is also an Action Canada Fellow and has also held policy roles on Parliament Hill and with the British Consulate-General in Jerusalem.

In his spare time, Josh loves to bike tour, jam with his band and (slowly) learn new languages.
