MLT Aikins and MTMS students continue holiday tradition of volunteering at the Regina Food Bank

On Saturday, November 29, 2025, MLT Aikins lawyers and staff joined forces with students and staff from Mother Teresa Middle School (MTMS) to continue a longstanding annual tradition of volunteering at the Regina Food Bank for the day.

In partnership with MTMS, our Regina office once again took part in Food Bank Day: Operation Rice – a fundraiser to purchase rice and other common staples for food hampers this holiday season. After everything was tallied, the Regina Food Bank matched the donation and the MLT Aikins team, including partners, lawyers and staff, headed to the food bank to join MTMS students and staff in measuring and packaging the donated items.

Leading our team alongside Mother Teresa Middle School at the Regina Food Bank for Operation Rice is a powerful reminder of what collaboration can achieve,” said MLT Aikins partner Milad Alishahi. “Together, we packaged several tons of food which will go to feed the most vulnerable members of our community. As proud supporters of both Mother Teresa Middle School and the Regina Food Bank, initiatives like these reflect and reaffirm our commitment to the communities we live and work in.”

MLT Aikins Bursary

MLT Aikins has been happy to support MTMS students for more than a decade. The MLT Aikins Bursary, worth more than $400,000, was established 13 years ago to provide financial assistance to students. The fund is replenished annually by donations from the firm’s lawyers.

Each year, approximately $15,000 is disbursed to the more than 150 students who are currently enrolled in MTMS or studying in high school or university. The fund covers everything from bus passes to graduation expenses, clothing and extracurricular activities – everything the students’ parents would pay for if they could afford to do so. The bursary is also used to defray some of the costs of post-secondary education.
