MLT Aikins lawyers and Manitoba Chambers of Commerce to collaborate on AI training workshops

This fall, MLT Aikins technology, intellectual property and privacy lawyers Danielle Graff, Nicolas Joubert and Karas Elbardisy will be supporting the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce (MCC) and The Winnipeg Chambers of Commerce (WCC) in a series of workshops designed to provide AI readiness training to the chamber network across Manitoba. This initial phase will then roll out to training for small-to-medium enterprises throughout the province.
MLT Aikins’ contributions to the workshops include an overview of the status of Canadian AI legislation and discussions on organizational considerations for AI utilization or adoption and contracting strategies to mitigate AI risks. These initial in-person workshops are to be held in six different Manitoba regions in October and November 2025, with MLT Aikins lawyers joining for four of those sessions:
- Russell – October 16*
- Brandon – October 17
- The Pas – October 20*
- Winnipeg – October 28
- Selkirk – November 6
- Niverville – November 7
*Due to scheduling conflicts, the MLT Aikins team will be unable to participate in these sessions
Developed after the March 21, 2025, news release from the Manitoba government announcing their investment in AI training initiatives for small- and medium-sized business, these workshops are one facet, alongside webinars and mentorship programs, of an overall plan to help dismantle common barriers to AI adoption.
“This training initiative will allow small- and medium-sized businesses to enhance productivity and grow their enterprise,” said Manitoba Finance Minister Adrien Sala in the release earlier this year. “We will continue to invest in our economy and ensure that businesses across the province can remain competitive with the rest of the country.”
