Shirley has worked on both litigation and solicitor matters, including shareholder disputes, intellectual property enforcement and litigation. In her intellectual property practice, she has litigated intellectual property enforcement matters including copyright infringement, trademark infringement and patent infringement. Shirley is also a trademark agent in training and has assisted with trademark opposition and trademark registration proceedings in both the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

She has acted for a range of clients, including shareholders and directors of corporations, real estate purchasers and vendors, financial institutions, employers, employees and government subsidiaries. She has assisted with conducting trials and various applications in the Supreme Court of British Columbia and has appeared before the Provincial Court of British Columbia and the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal. She has also assisted with disputes before the Federal Court of Canada, the British Columbia Court of Appeal, and through arbitration and/or mediation.

During law school, Shirley was an editor for the Canadian Journal of Comparative and Contemporary Law.

Prior to entering law school, Shirley obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia with a major in English literature and a minor in commerce. She is also a former registered pharmacy technician, having worked in both community and hospital pharmacies for more than 11 years. Shirley is fluent in Mandarin.

Outside of the office, Shirley enjoys catching up on new Netflix shows and trying new happy hour menus. She also spends much of her free time figure skating, a hobby she picked up as an adult during COVID-19.
