MLT Aikins would like to extend our congratulations to Luc Deleau, Skylar Ferbers, Moira Kennedy, Alli Knox, Kirsten Nynych and Tobey Xiang on being called to the Manitoba Bar and accepting positions with the firm as associate lawyers in our Winnipeg office.

Luc, Skylar, Moira and Alli will be practising with the firm’s Corporate and Commercial group, Kirsten will be practising with the Litigation group and Tobey will be practising with the Labour and Employment group.

Luc Deleau

Luc practices in the corporate and commercial area, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions. He has experience advising on transactions across a broad range of industries in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and the United States. Prior to joining the firm, Luc received his JD from the University of Manitoba in 2025. Before law school, Luc earned a Bachelor of Commerce with honours in finance and accounting from the University of Manitoba, where he also competed as a national-level sprinter in track and field.

Skylar Ferbers

Skylar’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions and commercial real estate. She has worked with consolidators in a variety of industries, including sports and athletics, dentistry, pharmacy and physical therapy, on transactions throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. Skylar joined MLT Aikins in 2024 as a summer student. She returned in 2025 to complete her articles after obtaining her Juris Doctor from the University of Manitoba.

Moira Kennedy

Moira practises in the area of corporate and commercial law, with a focus on commercial real estate, construction, mergers and acquisitions, commercial financing and corporate governance. She has experience drafting and negotiating purchase agreements and lease agreements and advising on various types of commercial transactions and day-to-day issues for clients at every stage of growth in a variety of industries.

Alli Knox

Alli joined the firm in 2024 as a summer student and returned in 2025 to complete her articles after obtaining her Juris Doctor from the University of Manitoba. During law school, Alli provided pro bono legal services as a student clinician through the L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic and Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Arts, as well as through Welcome Place. Prior to law school, Alli graduated from the Asper School of Business with a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in marketing and leadership.

Kirsten Nynych

Kirsten received her JD from the University of Manitoba in 2025. During her time at Robson Hall, she was involved in several student organizations, including the Business Law Group and the Community Law Centre. Prior to law school, Kirsten earned her Bachelor’s of Art and Science with a double major in organismal biology and political science from McGill University.

Tobey Xiang

Tobey practises primarily in the area of labour and employment law. His experience includes assisting employers with defence against wrongful dismissal allegations, human rights complaints, unfair labour practice complaints and workers’ compensation matters. Tobey’s practice also includes immigration law, primarily focused on international transfers of corporate personnel, foreign worker retention and overcoming criminal inadmissibility.
