Based in Regina, Randy’s practice focuses on technology projects, privacy and outsourcing. He was lead counsel for the largest Saskatchewan-based provider of information technology services on several complex outsourcing transactions and has assisted numerous clients with negotiations for IT services and software.
Randy has provided a wide range of privacy law advice to public and private organizations and conducted Privacy Impact Assessments for regional and province-wide health-care programs and IT applications.
Scott Davidson
Scott co-leads the firm’s Technology, Intellectual Property and Privacy practice group. He provides clients with advice on patent infringement and possible design around strategies in cases where competitors have patents of concern. He also advises clients on the acquisition and transfer of patents and other intellectual property to enhance their understanding of what rights they are receiving.
Scott leverages his understanding of intellectual property laws and processes to provide clients with valuable insight into patent portfolios. He assists with intellectual property audits to help companies better understand and manage their intellectual property rights. He also conducts reviews, and comments on a company’s intellectual property portfolio to allow potential investors to understand the full scope of the intellectual property rights they are obtaining.
Danielle Graff
Danielle co-leads the MLT Aikins Agribusiness and Food practice and was a former lead of the Technology, Intellectual Property and Privacy practice group. She advises organizations on complex, high-impact initiatives at the intersection of innovation, technology, and data, helping clients navigate strategic opportunities while managing risk.
Danielle’s experience includes assisting clients with outsourcing arrangements and procurement of information technology services and software, advising clients on privacy law interpretation and compliance issues, providing support in the implementation of IT systems and programs and advising on the legal and governance challenges associated with the adoption of artificial intelligence.
Kristél Kriel
Kristél co-leads the firm’s Technology, Intellectual Property and Privacy practice group and has also been named a Lexpert Lawyer to Watch. Her experience with complex cybersecurity, privacy, freedom of information and emerging technology matters, including AI governance and digital risk, makes her a valued asset to clients.
Kristél provides practical and strategic advice to public and private organizations, with particular depth in healthcare and other regulated sectors where she advises on privacy and the implementation and governance of new technologies. Her practice focuses on privacy, cybersecurity and freedom of information laws; AI, digital risk and online operations; and broader technology matters. She also plays a key role in advancing the firm’s TIPP strategy and developing training and academy-style programming relating to privacy, cybersecurity and AI.
Nathan Schissel
Nathan has acted as counsel in a wide variety of technology-related transactions, including business-process and technology-based outsourcing; software and systems implementation, development and integration, systems support and maintenance; reseller and distribution arrangements; fintech and payment platform development, emerging blockchain technology, internet and e-commerce; cloud services; procurement of information technology and technology transfer.
Nathan has significant experience negotiating and drafting outsourcing, system development, system acquisition/integration, software licensing, support and maintenance agreements, cloud computing agreements (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS), application development agreements, payment system agreements, service bureau, reseller and distribution agreements, master services agreements, consulting services agreements, and technology transfer agreements. He also provides technology-related advice on both domestic and cross-border purchase and sale transactions and financings.
