MLT Aikins lawyers author Canada chapter of the 2026 Chambers Practical Guide on Technology and Outsourcing

On October 27, Chambers and Partners released their 2026 Technology and Outsourcing Guide: Trends and Development, featured an article written by MLT Aikins lawyers Nathan Schissel, Jeremy Barber, Danielle Graff, Kristél Kriel and Nicolas Joubert for the Canada chapter.
As the authors note in their introduction, Canada’s technology and outsourcing regulatory landscape is undergoing significant change. Several new pieces of legislation with direct impacts on technology and outsourcing – Bill C-34, Bill C-36, Bill C-8 and Bill C-22 – were introduced in 2026. For organizations that provide technology solutions or services in Canada, or that simply do business in the country and may be affected by regulatory change, the cumulative effect is a new operating environment that demands early and proactive engagement. The chapter goes on to discuss privacy legislation, Provincial AI legislation developments and Federal developments in cybersecurity, lawful access to information and online harms legislation.
