After careful innovation, collaboration and unique problem solving to overcome provincial regulatory hurdles, BC Milk, BC Dairy, Alberta Milk, SaskMilk and Dairy Farmers of Manitoba all agreed to a partnership approach that aligns the resources and expertise of the five organizations under one Western Milk Pool (WMP).

MLT Aikins advised DIW in securing financing for its related entity, DIW Buildings & Land Corporation, for the milk concentration plant’s construction.

Better together for Canadian dairy

“The plant suits the vision of regional co-operation and efficiency.

…in addition to saving money, the effort is more environmentally friendly because less carbon will be emitted.”

– Henry Holtman, DIW Chair

At a glance

  • $67-million milk concentration plant will be the first of its kind in Canada
